Terms and acceptable use

The service

GimmeSMS lets you rent a phone number by the hour, for up to 48 hours per rental, and read the text messages it receives during that time. Numbers are shared resources and may be rented by other customers after your rental and a cooldown period end.

Your account

You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your password safe. You must be at least 18 years old to use GimmeSMS.

Credit and payments

Payments are processed by Stripe. Credit is deducted when a rental starts or is extended, and unused credit does not expire. Rentals that have started are not refundable, except where a problem on our side prevented the number from working.

Acceptable use

GimmeSMS is meant for personal privacy and for testing your own software. You agree not to use it to

• create accounts in bulk, or get around limits that other services place on how many accounts a person may hold
• commit fraud, phishing or impersonation, or access accounts that are not yours
• send or facilitate spam, harassment or threats
• break any law or the rights of others

We may suspend accounts and withhold credit when we believe these rules are being broken, and we cooperate with lawful requests from authorities.

Shared numbers

Because numbers are reused, never link a rented number to an account you need to keep, recover or secure, such as banking, email or government services.

Availability

We work hard to keep GimmeSMS running, but the service is provided as is. Some senders may refuse to deliver texts to virtual numbers, and we cannot guarantee delivery from every sender.

Changes

We may update these terms. If the changes are significant we will let you know by email.
